Jisan Valley Rock Festival (Inc Pictures)

Yesterday I’d felt like I’d gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. The 4 days at Jisan Festival were superb, but I was seriously ready for bed by the time we got home.

The Highs of the festival:- The Music (the band) were great, midnight swimming, drinking with friends.

The lows of the festival:- One of our friends getting an eye infection and going home, the weather sometimes, Suede and Jimmy Eat World.

My opinion:- If you’re in Korea when this festival is on you’d be mad not to go.

Information: The bus 12 goes straight from Icheon bus station to the festival (45 minutes) for a whopping 1,400 won. Price of a beer = 3,500 won, hot dog 3,000. There’s plenty of shops to buy cheaper food outside of the festival.

A couple of days before the festival we decided to stock up on booze and food. We had no idea if you could take it into the festival but we would give it a shot anyway. Walking up to the festival entrance we noticed that they were checking bags. My heart dropped. We had 3 bottles of spirits, beer, and plenty of food. I really didn’t want this to be taken off me.

I walked through the gates trying to look innocent, which is no easy task when you’re sporting a handle bar moustache. The girl working on the gate asked me to open my bag. I was livid. I did as she said, and she looked in. There was a bottle of beer on the top. She looked at it, then looked at me. The worry began to grow.  She asked “do you have any glass, metal, or bottle tops?” I said ‘no’. She let me go in. WOOOHOOO!

The main bands I planned to see were: The Music, Arctic Monkeys, Chemical Brothers, Feeder, and Priscilla Ahn – not a great line-up but there was a pleasant surprise. On the first day The Music, a band who I knew next to nothing about, put in easily the best performance of the festival.

This is what happens when you listen to The Music

The Arctic Monkeys and Feeder weren’t bad, we didn’t get the chance to see Priscilla Ahn, and I wasn’t that bothered about Chemical Brothers.

What made the festival memorable was being with a superb group of people. It was a real downer when one of them got an eye infection and her and her boyfriend went home on the 3rd day.

One of the best memories involved swimming in the ‘pool’ next to the green stage at about 2am. It turns out we weren’t suppsed to be in there and almost ran into a bit of trouble.

Rather annoyingly, the rain smashed it down all day Sunday. We even missed Incubus because of it. I was slightly concerned about our cheap little tent, but it pulled through yet again.

Here is a selection of my favourite pictures.
