Helloooo!

We’ve been rather busy lately. Not only have we been on holiday and done four winter camps between us, we’ve also been studying two hours of Indonesian a day, and I’ve got a new ipod touch to occupy my time.

Going to Malaysia (which was sweet!), I lost my mp3 player. I was pissed off for all of 10 minutes and then I realised I could get an ipod. When we went to Kuala Lumpur I saw one for a reasonable price. I haven’t stopped playing on it since. I’ve got some very addictive games and some pretty useful applications as well. The most useful apps are language learning ones, especially the srs French and Indonesian flashcard stuff.

We spent most of our holiday on the island of Langkwai. It was great, exactly what we wanted. We had a beautiful beach, cheap food and drink, decent nightlife, and we met a load of nice people who we got blind drunk with.

On a few occasions we drank in the communal area at our guest house with a load of the other guests. There was a real mix of people there; we drank with Iranians, Americans, Australians, Chileans, Norwegians, and Kenyans. It was very interesting.

I became friendly with an American fella called Dale who, despite being a keen racist and potential terrorist, was probably one of only a handful of sane people amongst the group. Having said that, we went to a party on an island one night. At one point Dale disappeared for a while and returned looking fresh-faced. He said he’d been skinny dipping and a wonderful thing had happened – he looked down and his chest, and the sea around him, was glowing. He said it was an amazing experience. I couldn’t help laughing when he later found out that the glow-in-the-dark stuff was excretion from jellyfish as a defense mechanism, which is why his chest was stinging. I took great delight in telling him that his wonderful experience was the result of a jellyfish taking a shat on him.

Although, I probably shouldn’t have because the next day I was shat on by a bird! Yep, a big fat bird crap landed in my hair. Rachel thought it was hilarious.

So, we’re back in Gwangju, freezing our arses off, studying like monks, waiting for the dreaded first day of school. The new EPIK teachers will be arriving in Gwangju on Friday. Hopefully we can organize a night out for them.

In other news, we’ve been in Korea for a year and 4 days and we’re proud to say that by the end of this month we would have hit our target savings for this year.

I’ll change the blog design soon. The Christmas theme isn’t really appropriate now.
