Finally Arrived in Bangkok

We’re finally here! We’ve checked into a place called Thai Cozy House. It’s quite charming. The 36 hour journey was a bit of a pain but worth it. We made a load of schoolboy errors during the trip so we thought we’d compile a list of don’ts for anyone making a similar journey seeking advice.

  1. Don’t book a 36 hour flight and think it’s going to be pleasant.
  2. Don’t accidently drop and leave your passport on the plane in Dubai.
  3. Don’t forget to bring a jacket. Dubai airport is not warm.
  4. Don’t try to convince someone that there is such a thing as ‘west-easterly wind’. NO THERE ISN’T RACHEL! It’s either West to East or East to West.
  5. Don’t think that L means large and R means regular on the airplane headphones. You’ll never live it down.
  6. Don’t be fooled into thinking that the loungers in Dubai airport are in anyway comfortable. They’re not!
  7. Don’t think that after lying on a marble floor for any length of time that it will warm up.
  8. Don’t think that the spa in Dubai airport is only $10.
  9. Don’t believe that you can’t eat three McDonalds in a day.
  10. DON’T THINK THAT THE SQUIRTY CLEANING THING IN EACH TOILET CUBICLE IS A SPECIAL BUM CLEANING SOAP THAT YOU SQUIRT ONTO LOO ROLL TO HAVE A ‘CLEAN FINISH’. IT ISN’T. IT BURNS! IT’S FOR CLEANING THE TOILET SEAT WITH!
